Show your love for Yakima by participating in Yakima's first ever INSIDE OUT project. INSIDE OUT is a global art project designed for people to share their stories and transform messages of personal identity into works of public art. Our INSIDE OUT project will celebrate the people of Yakima. Those who live here, doing the daily work of caring for their families, neighbors, and the greater community, are the people who create a positive future for Yakima.
These Yakima-loving residents will have their photos taken by Sally Tonkin between May and July, and the project will be installed in downtown Yakima in August 2017. If you or someone you know would like to show your love for Yakima, sign up using the form below!
There will also be volunteer opportunities to install the portraits. Sign up for the IHY newsletter and check “Inside Out” to stay posted on the news about this exciting project. Together, we can show the world that we love where we live.
Are you someone who loves where you live, specifically someone who knows and shows that Yakima is a great place to call home? Or do you know someone who does?
We’re seeking participants ages one through one hundred, of every background and interest. We will be doing “pop-up” portrait events where we will capture impromptu portraits, but we also want everyone to have a chance to be one of 260,000 people and counting who have been part of INSIDE OUT across the world. (Parents, please note if you'd like to sign up your kiddos!)
LAST PHOTO SHOOT: July 25, 6-8pm, inside 16 N. 3rd St (old K&K Furniture, next to Ron's Coin/Essencia)
This project is funded with proceeds from our I Heart Yakima merchandise! Thanks to everyone who reps our civic pride threads.
